How to save WebP as JPG on Windows
Windows 11 can open WebP images in Paint, so you can save a JPG copy without installing anything.

.webpfile and choose Open with → Paint. - In Paint, click File → Save as.
- Choose JPEG picture.
- Pick a folder, give it a name, and click Save.
Paint handles one picture at a time, so for more than a few files the online converter is quicker. If the image had a transparent background, Paint fills it with a solid colour.
How to save WebP as JPG on a Mac
Preview, the Mac's built-in viewer, can export to JPG.
- Double-click the
.webpfile to open it in Preview. - Click File → Export.
- Set Format to JPEG and drag the quality slider towards Best.
- Click Save.
To do several at once in Preview, select all the files in Finder, open them together, select every thumbnail in the sidebar, and use File → Export Selected Images.
How to save WebP as JPG on iPhone or iPad
Recent versions of iOS can show WebP images in Photos and Files, but there is no simple "save as JPG" button. The easiest options:
- Open the WebP to JPG converter in Safari, tap the box, choose the image from Photos or Files, and tap Download.
- Or take a screenshot of the picture. This is quick, but the image will include only what was on your screen, at your screen's size.
How to save WebP as JPG on Android

Why not just rename the file?
It is tempting to change .webp to .jpg and move on. Unfortunately the picture inside is still WebP. Some apps will open it anyway, but many upload forms check what is inside the file and reject it, and some programs will say the file is damaged. A real conversion is the only way to get a true JPG.
JPG or PNG?

If the JPG is too big

Why does Chrome save images as WebP?
Chrome saves whatever file the website sent. Many websites send WebP because it is smaller, so that is the file you get when you choose Save image as.
Can I make my browser save images as JPG directly?
Browsers do not have a built-in setting for this. Some browser add-ons offer a save as JPG option, but the simplest reliable way is to save the WebP and convert it.
Is a screenshot a good way to save WebP as JPG?
Only as a last resort. A screenshot captures what is on your screen, so the picture can come out smaller, slightly blurry, or with extra edges. Converting the original file keeps the full size.
Will saving WebP as JPG reduce quality?
At a high quality setting you will not see a difference. Transparent areas become a solid background, because JPG cannot store transparency.
